Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Sangsad, a new student organisation, has been launched at Dhaka University.

The organisation officially began its journey on Tuesday at 8:00pm with the announcement of a 30-member convening committee on its Facebook page.

Organiser and activist Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid has been made its convener, while young writer and organiser Hasan Enam has been appointed as its member secretary.

Other key members include Jannat-E Bulbul (joint convener), Fatematul Jannat Ema (joint member secretary), and Tashahud Ahmed Rafim (spokesperson).

Speaking about the initiative, convener Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid said, ‘Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Sangsad has been established with the aim of reforming the Dhaka University campus, opening doors to new possibilities, and working for the overall welfare of students.’

‘We aim to remain committed to ensuring the highest level of development for the campus,’ he added.

Member secretary Hasan Enam said that their politics would focus on the welfare of students and campus reforms.

‘We plan to participate in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union elections, and with this goal in mind, we’ve started our work,’ he said.
