Four men have been accused of sexually assaulting an eighth-grader in Netrokona.

The victim's sister filed a case in this regard at Netrokona Model Police Station last night.

The accused are Md Nasim, 22, Md Masum Mia, 21, Md Faisal Mia, 22, and Sonali Mia, 29.

Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Shahnewaz confirmed today that a case has been filed.

"However, no one has been detained so far," he added.

The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend them, the OC said.

According to the case statement, the accused would harass the victim on her way to and from school. After the girl rejected their advances, one of the accused, Nassim, began threatening to abduct her if she refused him again.

Yesterday, around 4:30pm, the victim had left home with her cousin's husband to visit the cousin's house in Shaljan village, when Nassim and the others blocked their path and "proposed" to her again, read the case statement.

Upon rejection, the accused men became angry, and assaulted her sexually and physically, causing serious injuries. When the cousin's husband tried to intervene, he was beaten up, leaving him with visible injuries.

Afterwards, they tried to drag the victim to a secluded spot, when the victim and her relative's cries for help prompted locals to arrive, resulting in the accused to flee.

The men reportedly threatened to abduct the girl in the future before leaving, according to the case statement.

The victim has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
