Today is the second anniversary of death of writer Ali Imam.
Born on December 31, 1950 in Brahmanbaria, Ali Imam’s first collection of stories titled Dwiper Naam Madhubuniya was published in 1976.
He was the project director of UNICEF’s ‘Maa O Shishur Unnayane Jogajog Karjakrom’ for seven years. He anchored the programme titled ‘Hello, Apnake Balchhi’, which was aired on Bangladesh Television. He also produced the programme ‘Dekha Hay Nai Chakshu Meliya’ for BTV.
Ali Imam’s literary works include Dholpahar, Hijal Kather Nao, Nil Chokher Chhele, Jibaner Janya, Lorai, Jaglo Jiban Nadir Teere, Pakhir Kachhe, Sonali Toron, Aloy Bhuban Bhora and Bunohaser Palok.
For his contribution to Bangla literature, he received the Bangla Academy Literary Award, Bangladesh Shishu Academy Award, Agrani Bank Shishusahitya Award, Sukumar Ray Shushsahitya Award and others.
Ali Imam died on November 21, 2022 in Dhaka.
