The Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court will conduct judicial proceedings virtually on Wednesday and Thursday in a move to reduce energy and electricity consumption amid the ongoing global economic situation.

The bench officers of the High Court Division have been asked to collect Zoom ID and password from the IT department, according to a notice signed by High Court registrar Muhammad Nurul Amin Biplob on Sunday.

Supreme Court Registrar general Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, however, told New Age that ‘We are taking preparation to hold virtual hearing.’

Chief justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury took the decision under the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2020, along with the court’s existing practice directions, that allowed the use of digital platforms to run court proceeding.
