The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned the body of a Bangladeshi national, after he was shot by their force at the Hatibandha border in Lalmonirhat yesterday.

The young man was identified as Hasibul Alam, 24, of Madhya Singimari border in Hatibandha upazila.

According to witnesses and locals, BSF members shot Hasibul near Sub-Pillar 6-S of Main Pillar No 894 on the Madhya Singimari border in Hatibandha upazila yesterday noon.

After being shot, BSF members took him to India.

He was collecting grass near the no-man's land on the border, said locals.

The body was returned through the Madhya Singimari border around 12.30am today.

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), BSF, and Bangladesh and Indian police were present at that time.

The body of the deceased was buried in the family graveyard, confirmed Hatibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudun-Nabi.

According to the OC, the BSF was supposed to return the body yesterday afternoon, but due to tensions on the border, they returned it late at night.
