As the nation observes Independence Day today, television channels nationwide have lined up a range of special broadcasts throughout the day.
Here's what viewers can look forward to.
BTV
At 9:00pm, BTV will air the docudrama "Phire Ashe Bar Bar", written by Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond and produced by Nasir Uddin. The storyline begins on March 25, 1971, and concludes in 2024 amid an anti-discrimination movement.
Earlier in the day, at 12:20pm, the children's programme "Amader Swadhinata" will be aired, followed by the musical segment "Kotha O Surey Swadhinata" at 1:10pm.
At 3:00pm, viewers can tune in to "Swadhinata Amar Ahonkar", another music-based programme.
A poetry reading session featuring original compositions will be broadcast at 6:30pm, while the discussion programme "Amar Swadhinata, Amar Gorbo" will go on air at 8:30pm.
Channel i
On the occasion of Independence Day, Channel i will host a special programme titled "Rongtulite Muktijuddho, Ronge Rekhaye Bangladesh", to be held on its premises. Presented by Afzal Hossain, the event will be broadcast live from 11:30am today. The programme will feature patriotic artworks by noted Bangladeshi artists, alongside musical performances by Ferdausi Ara and artistes from Sursaptak.
The telefilm "Jomsher Alir Epitaph" will be aired in two parts—at 1:05pm and again at 7:50pm. Written by Harun Rashid and directed by Golam Habib Litu, the telefilm stars Pran Roy, Sushama Sarkar, Mohammad Bari, and Zulfiqar Chanchal, among others. The narrative revolves around a woman's struggle for official recognition of her freedom fighter husband.
Duronto TV
At 10:30am, Duronto TV will broadcast "Judhdho Joyer Kotha", a programme highlighting the historic Operation Jackpot carried out by valiant freedom fighters.
At 11:00am and again at 9:30pm, viewers can watch "Amader Muktir Gaan". The story follows four friends visiting the Liberation War Museum, where they meet singer Shaheen Samad.
Through songs and storytelling, the programme traces the origins of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Shilpi Sangstha and how a group of young artistes inspired freedom-loving citizens through songs of liberation.
Deepto TV
To mark Independence Day, Deepto TV will air two films. At 7:00am, the channel will screen "Chitra Nodir Pare", directed by Tanvir Mokammel and featuring performances by Mamunur Rashid, Afsana Mimi, and Tauquir Ahmed, among others. Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, the film portrays its impact on the lives of Hindus in what was then East Pakistan.
At 10:15am, "Bhuban Majhi", directed by Fakhrul Arefin Khan, will be broadcast. Set during the Liberation War, the film stars Parambrata Chatterjee, Aparna Ghosh, and Mamunur Rashid.
ATN Bangla
At 9:00am, ATN Bangla will air the world television premiere of "Ora 7 Jon", directed by Khijir Hayat Khan. The film follows the story of seven brave freedom fighters during the Liberation War. The cast includes Intekhab Dinar, Zakia Bari Mamo, Saif Khan, and Imtiaz Borshon.
