Prime Minister and Leader of the House, Tarique Rahman, today held a brief meeting with Leader of the Opposition, Shafiqur Rahman, in the former's room at the parliament building following the namaz-e-janaza of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed’s wife, Dilara Hafiz.

The meeting took place after the janaza was held at the South Plaza of parliament in the afternoon.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said the discussion was brief.

After the janaza formalities, the prime minister went to his room along with the opposition leader and spoke with him for some time.

“After about 17 to 18 minutes, the prime minister came out of the room with the opposition leader and walked him to his room,” Ruman said, adding that the subject of the discussion was not disclosed.

LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present during the meeting.

Earlier, around 12:00pm, Tarique attended Dilara Hafiz’s janaza. Shafiqur arrived at the venue before the janaza began.
