The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) today staged demonstrations at university campuses across the country, demanding justice for Jahidul Islam Parvez, a third-year student of Primeasia University and a JCD leader, who was reportedly stabbed to death in Dhaka's Banani area on Saturday.

In Dhaka, the party's student wing held a protest rally in front of Primeasia University, where BNP's Dhaka South unit leader Ishraque Hossain issued a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest those responsible. Warning of tougher programmes if the killers were not apprehended, he alleged that members of the platform Students Against Discrimination were involved in the murder.

"There is pressure on police not to arrest them," Ishraque claimed. "Anyone obstructing justice will face resistance."

At Dhaka University, JCD leaders gathered at the base of the Raju Sculpture around 1:00pm, demanding swift action.

DU JCD president GC Roy Shahos said, "Parvez was brutally murdered. He played a vital role in recent student movements. We won't remain silent if our members are attacked again—we will act, in line with Tarique Rahman's 31-point directive."

JCD general secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon alleged that members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were being "rehabilitated" under the banner of Students Against Discrimination across campuses.

"While we respect the law, we will resist such attempts," he added.

At Jahangirnagar University, over a hundred JCD activists held a human chain at the Central Shaheed Minar in the afternoon, wearing black badges in mourning.

Convener Jahir Uddin Babor said, "CCTV footage clearly shows 15 to 20 BCL and Students Against Discrimination activists involved. We give the government 24 hours to act or face intensified protests."

Jagannath University JCD also held a rally echoing similar demands. JCD member secretary Shamsul Arefin criticised the lack of media attention. "Despite this brutal killing, the media is silent. Are we again under a fascist regime?"

Convenor Mehedi Hasan Himel added, "Our activists have long faced targeted killings. What is our crime? We are fighting for a better Bangladesh. This murder is unacceptable. We demand immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators."
