Dhaka-based experimental rock band OjantriK released its debut album titled Mrittuhin Shohor on Wednesday.

The album launching ceremony was held at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro at Banglamotor in the capital.

OjantriK members, devoted fans of the band and well-wishers were present at the event.

The band’s current line-up comprises lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Subrata Karmakar; drummer and backing vocalist Naimul Alam Chowdhury Sazid; guitarist Moshiur Rahman Oly and bassist and backing vocalist Mukit Rahman.

Mrittuhin Shohor consists of nine original songs and an acoustic version of the title track Mrittuhin Shohor. The other songs of the album are Mrittuhin Shohor, Bolona, Thakte Debe Na, Onuvuti Chokro, Nylon, Mukhosh, E Kon Chaya, Atmapakkha Samarthan and Praticchabi.

Formed in 2014, OjantriK released six music videos of songs from the album on its official YouTube channel earlier and three songs were released this year.

‘OjantriK is an experimental rock band and we have experimented throughout the album. Music lovers will get different flavours from the album,’ said Sazid.

‘Music lovers can enjoy the songs on our official YouTube channel. Besides, the album will be released soon on the Bangla music streaming platform Gaan. We have plans to release the album on different music streaming platforms in future,’ added Sazid.

While talking about the songs, Subrata Karmakar said, ‘The songs portray our feelings about the everyday mechanical life in urban society. The songs metaphorically address self-contradiction, frustration, fantasy, political reality and others.’ 

‘I have witnessed the struggles and development of OjantriK band members. I congratulate them and wish them success in their future endeavours,’ said Leemonade band founder Rezaul Karim Leemon.

Besides, writer Milu Aman Khan, music journalist ‌and band music book Banglar Rock Metal’s co-author Haque Faruk, singer and Geetikabi Sangha Bangladesh cultural secretary Joy Shahriar and others were present at the album launching ceremony.

After the album launching ceremony, OjantriK members entertained the audience performing songs from Mrittuhin Shohor.
