Ferry services on Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes remain suspended since early today due to dense fog.

Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury, deputy general manager (Commerce) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha office, said ferry services were suspended on the Aricha-Kazirhat route at 2:00am and Paturia-Daulatdia route at 3:30am to avoid accidents.

The authorities suspended the ferry services as the marking points of the waterway channel became unclear due to the density of fog last night, he said.

Two ferries are stuck in the middle of the river on Aricha-Kazirhat waterway and three on Paturia-Daulatdia route due to the fog, the BIWTC official said.

Ferry services will resume on both routes when the fog disappears, he added.
