Several senior leaders of BNP were left out of the new cabinet as the party named 25 ministers and 24 state ministers under the leadership of Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Selima Rahman, Amanullah Aman, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were left out of the council of ministers.

Except for Nazrul and Rizvi, all of them had previously held key portfolios in past BNP governments.
