The cabinet committee on government purchases in a meeting on Wednesday approved four proposals, including procurement of 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser.

Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company will supply the fertiliser for Tk 90.72 crore to Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation with a tonne costing $356, said additional secretary Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal in an online briefing.

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting virtually.

Abu Saleh said that the committee approved two proposals of the Public Works Department.

The first proposal was for the appointment of a joint-venture company of Ataur Rahman Khan and Mahabub Brothers Pvt Ltd for MB-1 lot of the ‘Museum Building Expansion and Construction of the Other Physical Infrastructure of the Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Foundation’ at Tk 89.17 crore.

The second one was for the appointment of Taher Brothers Limited and Hossain Construction Private Limited for implementing package-1 of the revised ‘National Revenue Bhaban Construction’ project at Tk 80.75 crore.  Abu Saleh said that Mir Akhter Hossain Limited would be appointed for implementing a package of a project on upgrading the regional highway from Keraniganj in Dhaka to Hasara in Munshiganj.

About Tk 180.09 crore will be required for implementing the package under the Road Transport and Highways Division.
