Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday said that the frequency of power cuts had increased dramatically in the country due to the looting and laundering of huge amounts of money by the previous Awami League government.

‘The Awami League government has to take the responsibility of frequent power cuts. It is not possible for the interim government to solve this problem in one day. Give them some time,’ BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters following a meeting of BNP’s Liaison Committee with two organisations – the Gono Odhikar Parishad and the General Student Rights Protection Council – at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka.

Khasru said that, after the upcoming elections, the national government would be formed with those who were part of the simultaneous movement.

That government would implement a 31-point programme and carry forward the state reform works, he said.

He announced that they would go to the grassroots level across the country with their 31-point reform programme to raise public opinion in their favour.

The BNP leader said that they would provide all possible support to the interim government.

This BNP leader urged everyone to be patient in building a democratic Bangladesh.

Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur said that they had a discussion on the tenure of the interim government.

He said that the parties agreed to give reasonable time to the interim government.

He pointed out that attempts were being made to create instability in educational institutions and said that the link of the fallen dictatorship was being found behind this.
