Gazi Group Chattogram have put together a promising team, banking on depth in the batting department during the players’ draft of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

The names in the batting order look exciting for the fans as few of the batsmen from the national team’s playing XI have been roped in by the port city outfit.

In all likelihood Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar will open the innings and all eyes will be on the opening duo as these two are regular names at the top order of Bangladesh team. 

Both these players did not score big in the recently concluded BCB President’s Cup and the onus will be on them to score some quick runs at the top.

In the middle-order, Chattogram have captain Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain, who have been regular performers in the domestic circuit over the years. 

Mosaddek has emerged as a quick run-scorer in the late overs, as was evident during his match-winning whirlwind fifty against the West Indies in the tri-nation series in Ireland last year, and he will be on the watch list.

Chattogram picked Mithun as their captain ahead of the likes of Mosaddek or Soumya.

Mithun’s record in T20s is not so good, but he is certainly experienced in the shortest format having played 124 matches in the domestic circuit. 

Chattogram also picked Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque but he might not be a regular in the playing XI and thus Mithun was picked ahead of him as skipper.

The port city outfit’s category A player was left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman, often called the Fizz, and he will be their main weapon in the bowling department. 

The experienced Mustafizur will be under the watch list of national team pace bowling coach Ottis Gibson after a long beak as he will be key for Bangladesh in the coming years when the Tigers will play a lot of limited-overs cricket.

Coach Mohammad Salahuddin will also be an important factor for Chattogram in their bid to lift the title as Salahuddin is vastly experienced and a successful coach in the BPL.

Overall Chattogram have an exciting squad and fans will certainly hope for some big runs from the big guns in the batting line-up.
