In a circular issued on Tuesday, the ministry of youth and sports removed 42 government-nominated presidents of sports organisations under Clause 22 of the National Sports Council Act 2018.
Out of the country’s entire 60 sports organisations, 27 federations, 13 associations, the Bangladesh Martial Art Confederation, and the Bangladesh Paralympics Committee presidents were removed.
Athletics Federation and Archery Federation suffered the same fate, while Hockey Federation and Swimming Federation were excluded from the list among the comparatively active sports bodies of the country.
Bangladesh Chess Federation president—former IGP Benazir Ahmed—and Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation president—former IGP and DG RAB Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun—were removed from their positions earlier this month.
Names of the sports oragnisations: Badminton Federation, Sports Shooting Federation, Handball Federation, Judo Federation, Karate Federation, Taekwondo Federation, Table Tennis Federation, Gymnastics Federation, Basketball Federation, Archery Federation, Women’s Sports Association, Amateur Boxing Federation, Deaf Sports Association, Bashap Association, Rugby Federation,Fencing Federation, Baseball-Softball Association, Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh, Surfing Association, Mountaineering Association, Tchukball Association, Sepaktakraw Association, JU-Jitsu Association, Para-Archery Association, Weightlifting Federation, Wushu Federation, Carom Federation, Cycling Federation, Tennis Federation, Armature Wrestling Federation, Roller Skating Federation, Country Games Association, Throwball Association, Volleyball Federation, Squash Rackets Federation, Rowing Association, International Taekwondo Association, Kite Association, Athletics Federation, Kyokushin Karate Association, Kho-Kho Federation, Martial Art Confederation.
