The Jatiya Mukti Council on Friday demanded the withdrawal of curfew immediately, mentioning that the government declared an unofficial military rule by restricting movement of people.

At a meeting at its office in the capital, the council also demanded the resignation of the government to pave the way for the establishment of the people’s government.

Presided over by the organisation secretary Faiezul Hakim, the council also condemned the government efforts to control over media and abuse the right to expression of opinion.

Calling for reopening of universities and educational institutions, the meeting observed that the government became afraid of mass protest.

The government imposed countrywide curfew midnight past on July 19 and deployed military troops to restore order amid violence during the student movement for reforming quotas in the government jobs.
