The foundation of the Sheikh Kamal Krira Complex will be laid down within four to five weeks, as the chairman of the Abahani Limited Salman F Rahman announced yesterday on the occasion of 68th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the founder of the club.

Salman Rahman, while addressing as the president of the 68th birth day ceremony of late Sheikh Kamal, organized by Abahani Limited on the club (Abahani Limited) premises said that to make the Kamal’s dream true they have already started the preliminary works of the most coveted Sheikh Kamal Krira Complex and within next four to five weeks the old building will be bulldozed and the foundation will be laid down.

“We have already began the works of the complex and within four to five weeks we will go for lay down the foundation of complex while the main building will be demolished.”  

Salman, while recalling  his memories with Kamal before the tragic 15th August, calling Kamal as the role model of the youth, said, “Kamal was a versatile talented, he was an all-rounder, not only a passionate lover of sports but had also had great enthusiasm for culture, as he also established a cultural group, like sports club Abahani.”

“I repeatedly told in different time, in different occasions about Sheikh Kamal that being a son of the then Prime Minister he had no greediness for money, he always looked for help for the Abahani club and his cultural organization.”

“That time, like me there were so many new businessmen, I was eyewitness that so many businessmen tried to convince him to request for them for business interest but he did never, he had no interest for business or money but for sports.”

Salman Rahman also explained about the hearty assistance of Primer Minister Sheikh Hasina during the club’s tough time, said, “Once we had very tough time, the present Prime Minister, when she was not, always helped us to run the activities of the club.”

Salman also urged the officials and the concerned persons to win all the trophies (football, cricket and hockey) of this season.

Meanwhile, Harunur Rashid, founder general secretary of Abahani, Muzaffar Hossain Poltu, advisor of Bangladesh Awami League, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP, director in charge (acting), Abdus Sadeque director also addressed in the occasion at the presence of Kazi Enam Ahmed director, Shayan F Rahman director and members of Abahani Smorthok Goshti were also present.

 Besides Abahani Limited, different organizations also observed the Kamal’s birth anniversary with placing wreaths at the moral of the club founder.
