Asaduzzaman Fuad, candidate for the Barishal-3 (Babuganj–Muladi) constituency and general secretary of the Amar Bangladesh Party, has received Tk 21.94 lakh within 25 hours after appealing for public donations to support his Jatiya Sangsad election expenses.
Fuad disclosed the amount while speaking at a Facebook Live broadcast early Tuesday.
According to him, Tk 11,20,969 was received through two bKash accounts and Tk 1,25,609 through a Nagad account. In addition, Tk 9,45,467 was deposited in his bank account, while a journalist donated Tk 2,000 in cash.
He said that Tk 21,94,045 was collected from supporters and well-wishers within 25 hours of the appeal.
Fuad warned that several fake pages were being created in his name and that videos were being circulated using false bKash and Nagad numbers to deceive donors.
‘Many people are copying my video and opening fake pages. People should only send money to the numbers posted on my verified Facebook page and ID,’ he said.
He urged supporters to continue contributing according to their ability and promised to ensure transparency in campaign spending.
‘Full details of the funds received through bKash, Nagad and bank accounts, and how the money is spent, will be published regularly,’ Fuad said.
Earlier, at about 9:30pm on Sunday, Fuad posted a 47-second video on Facebook, seeking financial support for his polls campaign.
